As I made the jump directly from System 7.1 to MacOS 8.1, I cannot speak
from experience with System 7.5.3, although it seems strange to me that
the IIe card will not work for  you in your Quadra 605, as it is the exact
same machine as an LC 475 as far as the logic board is concerned, the only
difference being that the Quadra 605 has the J19 jumper block plugged in
on the logic board, whereas the LC 475/Performa 475 & 476 have the J19
jumper block removed.

How about this: Remove the jumper block from J19 on the logic board. J19
is located at the front of the PDS expansion slot, and just to the right
(between the PDS slot and the lithium battery holder.

Not sure if you'll need to change the System Enabler as well (although I
doubt it).
