There just has to be a Mac driver on the ProDOS formatted drive.
The Adv. Disk Utils has a driver in it that can be extracted with
a program called Genex which puts a file called GenericMacSCSI in
the drivers folder under GS/OS.  Then when you format a drive on
the IIGS, it'll ask about formatting for the Mac, if you answer 
yes and that driver is in the drivers folder, it will install it
on your drive and the drive can be mounted on the Mac (file sharing
would have to be off on later version of MacOS though for it to
work.)

I know this works...I've done it.  :-)  Handy way to back up the GS,
just make disk images and I can back those up to tape on my Mac.
