My understanding is that WDC did do a run of about 24 test prototypes
(where they went - I have no knowledge of) - but, elected not to make them
commercially for economical reasoning and as a result of the discontinuation of
the Apple IIgs.

The current CPU used in the little tiny WDC computer they had for sale
seems to have the same basic abilities that would have resulted with the
production of the 65c832 CPU chip.  It has 32 bit functionality and has the
core of it designed the same as the 65c816 FAST CPU.

That's about all I have heard on the matter - nothing official mind you - just
bit's of info from this person and that person over the past few years.

A final note on all this for those interested.  Back in 1997 - WDC told me they
only sent out around a dozen of the 65c832 CPU development manuals during
1991-93 and when I asked them if they had any left and available they replied -
NO!
