??? What??? Don't you have any imagination? There are only at least 10
specific things that I could use the slots for...

Unlisted posibilities for the slots:

 1. Ethernet cards
 2. Appletalk cards
 3. Modem cards
 4. Accelerator cards
 5. Co-processor cards
 6. Scsi cards
 7. USB cards
 8. FireWire cards
 9. Video Capture cards
10. TV Video/S Video out cards
11. Home automation cards
12. Cards for proprietary interfaces

... and these still don't account for the ability to install and use
enhanced versions of the built-in hardware! I just want the new system to
start off as complete as we would have otherwise expected it to be.

As for where I'd put it all.... Have you ever seen the motherboard in a PC
system loaded with integrated components? Believe me. It'll all fit.
