Re: A2e color monitor question.
The software should make little difference. The display method
is pretty simple and standard across many models. Even if the
electronics varied, they all use the same method.
I can think of little that a program can do to make changes in
the video signal, which is what would be required for changes in
intensity or color shifting. Perhaps it's an effect of the
specific color bleeding (CB) of a monitor. CB always happens
on the II due to shortcuts Woz used during design. It is this
effect which gives graphics a variety of colors. Every monitor
handles bleeding a little different. Most can be adjusted to
reduce the effects by slight adjustments of color, tint,
brightness and clarity.
Part of the problem, the signal isn't quite ntsc. It's close
enough to display the memory bits as colors on a tv. Some
monitors don't handle signal variences as well as others.
This was well before the II had the 80 column card. I seem to
remember a fix was required on some early models to allow color.
