multitasking!

i installed mac os 8.6 for a new cause the old was out of order..

now  the multitasking seems to be out of order. with the old system i could
listen to mp3's while i launched some app's or while backing up data to my
external harddisk. now it's no longer running!

if i'm copying files or dooin' something what need's much processor capacity
the sound plays not clean.

there are break's and it stoks...

can you help me or do u know someone who can help me?
