I can't speak for printing.  But ADTPro will generally, by default,
look for the lowest-numbered serial port it can find and attempt to
use that.  If you have SSCs in both slots 2 and 1, I think it will
choose slot 1 if left to its own devices (no pun intended).  You can
change and save the configuration at any time and lock in whatever
slot you prefer, though.

The machines with built-in serial ports (IIgs, IIc, IIc+, Laser 128,
Franklin 500) will choose those slots by default unless told (and
saved) otherwise.
