Shill bidding an item in my opinion is pretty pointless.  Pretty much,
I just bid the maximum I'd ever plan to pay.  If someone bids higher,
then more power to them.  Sure, I'm a bit bumed, but then I know when
to back down if the price gets too high.  If the seller shill bids, or
gets a friend to shill bid for them, they don't know what my bid is and
chances are, they'll probably out-bid me, in which case, they're stuck
with the item that they're trying to move.  If they had a minimum price
in mind that they would accept, they may as well offer the item in a
reserve price auction.
