Actually, Roy, http:// CAN access and then allow downloads
from ftp sites. I've done this numerous times from
both lynx and Netscape from the Trenco ftp site. An html
guru that I ask for help from when the need arises has had
me use http:// rather than ftp:// when setting up a link
to a file for downloading on a website I was developing.
Apparently not all browsers and all versions therein can
properly do ftp:// . I've tested the http:// setup
extensively and it WILL download a file. So, back to
the original--your question and comment about Tom's site
would still be valid, since it CAN and does allow
files of some types to be transferred. It may not be
an ftp site by definition, but there's that line about
the appearance of a member of the family Anatidae (or
the appearance of that water fowl for you all not near
a dictionary.... :))
