Is it worth it.  If you look straight at the money and what you can do with
a normal PC.  It would hard to prove that is.  I am one of the people who
used to own one years ago and then re-bought one and have since been through
the upgrade process(RAM/Accelerator/Hard Disk). It is quite amazing what can
be done on a 15year old computer.

Basically the problem is that, none of this stuff is manufactured anymore.
I think it really depends on what you enjoy doing and if money is a problem
for you.  I don't think in anyway that I have thrown a dime away on any of
my Apple II stuff.

I personally think the GS is a great machine to have.  It enables you to run
almost all old Apple ][ software.  One of the fun parts of the machine is
getting it to do things that people say "can't be done"
