Re: Apple II-Or Come on people, It's a 20 year old computer
My old car is pushing on twenty years, but refuses to die..
I dont think the majority of Apple II enthusiasts would compare the computer
by todays standard of computing.
Even though many of us daily work with PC-beasts carrying 1 GHz 32-bit
processors and dedicated graphic boards with tremendous force, it just
is'nt the same as firing up the Apple II with a good game of 'Choplifter' or
doing some word-processing in Appleworks.
We may be a rare breed, but really its no difference than refurbing old cars
(which is by far more expensive also)
As with cars you need petrol; the 'petrol' for Apple II-series is software
which is available in abundance for the hobbyist thanks to the internet and
user-groups.
Many of the other pre-80's computers did not have this huge software supply,
and subsequently is not 'alive' today, even though they were technically
comparable.
