AppleTalk and the IIgs

I apologise if this has been discussed somewhere before. If this is a
FAQed issue, I'd appreciate being directed to the appropriate document.

I have a 1MB GS (ROM 3) with no system software. Apparently, all the
software, including the ProDOS volumes, Appleworks, etc., that it ran
is stored on a Mac SE/30 running AppleShare File Server v2 that came with
the GS.

How can I get the GS to speak AppleTalk? I understand that GS/OS is
capable of doing so, but I have been told that GS/OS v6 requires more
than 1MB of memory to run. Is there a way to get ProDOS to access the
network server, instead?
