The resistor should be fairly easy to fix and if you don't have any
soldering skills, you might be able to find a technician who will take
pity on you and do it for free as it is just a quick and simple job.
As to a cable, you can build one or you can wait until the next big
order goes to Bill Schuff to make a batch. However, I bought two of
Bill's connectors during the last big order that went to him so I now
have two original ZipGSX cables so I could probably get you one for a
few bucks plus shipping.

I live in Barrie, Ontario at present (I'm moving at the end of the
month but only to the Kitchener/Waterloo area) so we'd both be dealing
in Canadian funds and shipping shouldn't be too bad.
