II GS recognizing 3 Drives

I'm booting my II GS with one of the 3.5 drives, and it is reflected
as such on the desktop. Also, the 5.25 drive shows up. However, the
second 3.5 drive, while it functions when I have a disk inserted, does
not show up on the desktop. How come? I would think that all the
drives connected would show an icon.
