It is easier for you to look for someone who lives closer to you than I
do who will sell you a Disk II.

However, If you want to build your own drive, cou could start with a
360k mechanism from an old XT. Tie side select low (Apple uses the lower
side only) and use DS1 and MS as an EN signal. Then you will need a
circuit that transforms the phi0..phi2 signals from the Disk II
controller into the STEP and DIR signals required by a PC drive.
 
I can send you the scanned schematic diagram of an Ehring FDC-2
controller. This controller supports the Apple Disk II and/or two PC
drives (with up to 720k capacity).
