As it turns out, I think I did some bad stuff to the machine last night. After
writing the post to usenet last night, I decided to give a shot to different
combinations of cards and at times I inserted cards while the machine was on -
then there was the smell of electronics burning. The next time I had the thing
on, my display was split into four mini-sections of a screen filled with
characters and the drives did not spin. I believe I did something to the a ROM
chip.
I had plans anyway to get another machine for parts...
Any further help would be so appreciated.
Ignoring that for the time being, here are some comments...

That's my number 30717.

The card does not have any evidence of a cable or anything missing. I'm not
sure what the RAM chips would look like but there are not 9 of any single kind
of chip. There are 8 NEC 8329DD192's. This is the one board that I found that
I am not 100% positive that it can be used for a Plus and i really doesn't have
any ID of any kind on it.

I am pretty sure it has an AutoStart already. It goes right to spinning a disk
and you need to hit Reset to get to BASIC.

These two IC's are on the Apple card - the other card doesn't even have sockets
but IC's right on the board.

Yes, I have 24. The leftmost one is seated in a higher white socket.

Rubywand, once again thanks. This has been much appreciated.
