I believe the BeOS IIgs emulator you are referring to is called
Sweet16 which has a nickname of Ernie and who's mascot is a parrot.

Bernie ][ The Rescue is a IIgs emulator for MacOS nicknamed Bernie and
who's mascot is a dog.

There has to be a distinction as you can use either Bernie or Ernie on
a Mac depending of which operating system you are running.
