This chip exists. No questions asked. I used to work at The Used Computer
Store (Berkeley, CA) and every now and again one would trickle through the
door. Actually lots of weird stuff came through our doors when I worked there.
They also used to have (quite literally) dozens of the famed Red Book (of
which I understand are now collector's items).
They were always a great source for new/used and obscure Apple II (and Mac and
PC) hardware. And even better for that old manual or piece of software nobody
could ever find. We had ROMs from old Videx cards (remember those) all the AE
(stuff back when it was new!), even parts for the old Mitac and Rama(?)
drives.
They are still in business. You can call and ask for Bill or Rita (they own
the store). I'm sure they'll help you. I don't know their phone or fax
anymore, but it's area code 510 and you should be able to find it online
somewhere (Shattuck Avenue).
Bill and Rita will remember me but I don't know any of the current employees.
It really was a great place. If you live near there, go check it out.
(I assume they still sell Apple II stuff. I honestly don't know as I haven't
been there in 3 or 4 years. But I still have friends go there for Mac stuff so
I know they're in business.)
