And Roy responded:

<<Assumption #1 - you don't have the hundreds of thousands of dollars lying
around
that would interest lawyers enough to sue you from here to Sunday. Now, was I
wrong
about that? Or are you independently wealthy?>>

:) That's none of your business Roy.

<<That wasn't preaching. No text, no title, no topic sentence, no exegesis. But
there
is an old preacher's comment that might fit: If you throw a stone into a pack
of
dogs, which one yelps? :)>>

OoooooK! That depends on what type of dog pack the stone is thrown into.
Here on this news group it seems that only a few select dogs in the pack yelp.
Most of them simply yelp at each other and as a result - they don't accomplish
SQUAT. They just waste their time and bandwidth on the Internet.

<<Ok. According to your own words you don't own the rights to AE's ROM. At
least one
person does have the right to sell that ROM. Therefore, legally and morally you
should take that ROM code off your web site (you know, the one that you said
only
has software on it that you have permission to distribute.)>>

I don't regard your moral or legal advise with any merit or logic Roy, so like
I said before - please don't waste your time with giving me any more of it. If
you want to debate on the Usenet with somebody - do it with somebody else!

But I have the right to post my moral concepts (which, other than in reference
to
giving away something that doesn't belong to you, I haven't done), personal
conclusions and assumptions factual or otherwise. Just like you just did. Isn't
freedom a wonderful thing? :)

<<By the way Tom (don't like the diminutive of Charles, eh Chucky? I'll refrain
from
that hereafter) you really could be a true aid to the Apple 2 community. You
have
time, resources and inclination; but you seem to have no regard for the rights
of
others; and an inability to admit when you jumped too fast. All you had to do
was
contact Mr. Lange, and announce that since he has the evident right to sell the
ROM
code, that you will remove it from your web site because you wish to support
the
few Apple ][ businesses which still exist. Wow! Penman and QC would probably
die
from heart failure.
But no, not you. You have to insist that you can do whatever you feel like
doing.
You and Rube keeping saying that without lawsuits you won't stop and the lack
of
lawsuits shows that no one cares. The fact, FACT, again Tom, is that lawyers
are
very expensive. They charge for every second of their time and the time of
their
staffs. And unless you have deep pockets, you won't ever get sued for the code
that
you upload, it just isn't economically justifiable. So you'd better pray you
never
win the lottery or oh boy will the lawyers circle you like vultures.

Roy>>

;) Whatever!

Cheer,
Tom
