This may be off topic for this thread, but Franklin was pretty stupid for
doing what they did.  If you want to see true genius, look at Video
Technology which made the Laser 128 series of Apple II clones.

While Franklin stole, the Laser was completely reversed engineered
just like Compaq, the original IBM PC clone, was.  This is the only
way to go.  Give a group of engineers and programmers with no
knowledge of the internal workings of the computer and firmware
and make them work backwards to produce a clone that is almost
totally compatible yet not a copy.

FYI, Apple sued Video Technology in several different countries
but lost ALL the cases.  Video Technology made so much money
for their investment that they branched off and now you see their
cordless telephones and learning computers as well as PCs
everywhere.  ;-)

The only place you see Franklin is in electronic spellers.
