Suggestions


GS Accelerator Card (ZipGS or TransWarp/GS)- Slot 3
 (leave Control Panel setting at default-- i.e. _not_ 'Your Card')


SCC- save for use in a II+ or //e
 (The built-in IIgs serial port is better.)

5.25 floppy drive controller card- save for use in a II+ or //e
 (If you have two good 5.25" drives which have the 20-pin cables for
  plugging into a drive controller and do not want to get drives
  with cables for plugging into the IIgs Disk Port chain, then,
  the controller card goes into Slot 6 and the Control Panel
  setting for Slot 6 is 'Your Card'.)  

AE PC transporter card- don't know which Slot is good for this card. It is a
power sucker which has fairly limited application. Suggest you sell it or
save for use in a second IIgs.

Second Sight SVGA adapter card- don't know which Slot is good for this card.
It's another power sucker; and, special display modes have very little
application with existing software. Suggest you sell it or save for use in a
second IIgs.


Get a Stereo Card- can go into any Slot (Slot 5 is a good place)
 (leave Control Panel setting at default-- i.e. _not_ 'Your Card')

Get a Focus 'Hard Card' hard drive or an SHH MicroTurbo+drive- Slot 7
 (set Control Panel setting to 'Your Card')


Also nice to have ...

For using a CD-ROM drive and/or a Zip Drive and/or a SCSI hard disk
Get a RamFAST SCSI (rev f ROM) or Apple HighSpeed SCSI- Slot 2 if
  you have a hard disk in Slot 7; otherwise, Slot 7
 (set Control Panel setting to 'Your Card')

For inputting sound (if feature not included on Stereo Card)
Get a Sound input card- requires no Slot


And kind of fun to have ...

For running software which supports MockingBoard
Get a MockingBoard Sound-II or MockingBoard C- Slot 4
 (set Control Panel setting to 'Your Card' only when in use; otherwise,
  set to the default to allow mouse operation)

     You can get ADT/gs (v.91) and use the built-in modem serial port.
Eventually, you will want to use a standard telecom program (like Agate,
Modem MGR, ProTerm v3.1, or Spectrum) to handle all file transfers via NULL
modem.

     You can use a regular SCC (and regular ADT v1.22); however, this uses up
a Slot and adds to the power load. Besides, the IIgs modem serial port is
better.

     Overall, you are better off using the built-in IIgs hardware where
possible-- like for modem serial connections, printer interface, and to
handle 5.25" drives.
