You do have a choice though: turn off Java on your web browser.
Or switch to Lynx (which deosn't run Java at all).
 
And of course, by declaring that you don't want to do anything which
cannot be done on the Apple II, you've implicitly declared that the
Apple II is enough for all your needs.....
