If the copyright owner doesn't object, that's irrelevant. No-one

You focus too much on the technical question of legality. It would be
better if you instead focused on whether any damage was done to anyone,
or of anyone was dissatisfied with whta was happening. If not, then no
harm is done, and it's quite irrelevant whether it's legal or not.
