OS-9 is an 8 bit ROMable Unix. And NASA has used it before on some of
their projects. Of course, you have to have a Motorola 6809 family chip
to use it.... Oh the company(s?) that own OS-9 have sued Apple for using
that designation for MacOS version 9; I'd love to find out how that gets
settled.
