When you use ProType on a file does it automatically set a file type
(besides $00)? If it doesn't, there may be some option you are supposed to
click to set filetype.

Don't know if ProType can work with files on a ProDOS disk. If it can,
what happens if you copy the downloaded file to a ProDOS disk and use ProType
on the file there?

The basic problem with handling Apple II files on a modern Mac appears to
be Mac's tendency to screw up the files when they are transferred to a ProDOS
disk. So, eventually, your best approach is likely to be one of the following:

o- Get System 6.0.1 going on your IIgs. It allows access to hfs disks. You can
transfer files from Mac to IIgs on hfs diskettes.

o- Whether or not you get System 6.0.1 going on your IIgs, obtain a good
telecom program-- you can get at least one (Agate) on a 5.25" disk image or on
a ShrinkIt .sdk whole-disk archive. Use a NULL modem connection to transfer
files from the Mac to the IIgs.
