Re: ... vogons

Bev related in clear detail:
<<Okay, I looked at the illegal downloads of AppleWorks 5 and here is what I
found:

I only looked at HD, Extras, and Update.

HD is the program disk for AppleWorks 5.0 (five-oh). It is not AppleWorks 5.1.
I am sure you must already be aware of that. As far as that goes, the files are
the correct ones.

Extras is the extras disk for AppleWorks 5.0. It is not v5.1.

Updater is the same old AppleWorks 5.0 to 5.1 updater that has been available
for a long time. Your statement that adding SEG.RM to this group of files will
create a working AppleWorks is wrong. There are several other missing files,
including the SANE elementary math functions (two files, both required), and
several other SEGs which are not essential to running the program, but are
missing just the same. Even if SANE were present, the SEG.RM theory only
applies to the IIGS. IIe's and IIc's need the other memory managers, not
SEG.RM. So the SEG.RM idea does not hold water.

So I would say that if anyone downloaded this, they better know what to do with
it. (And don't ask me!)

The other downloads appear to be somebody's personal work or notes, and are
not a part of AppleWorks itself.

The first two uploads I described are illegal, the third ("update") is ok.>>

Thanks for the prompt review and feedback on all this. I'm sure whoever made
those uploads wasn't aware of all the errors you encountered with it all.
Thanks for pointing them all out also. I'm sure somebody (who - I haven't a
clue) will eventually correct all those errors you found and make them right.
It's good to have an AppleWorks expert to review such stuff on such sites for
sure.

Thanks again for your efforts with it.

Cheers,
Tom
