I had a similar problem with my IIC�s and after all it was the memory.
Since the chips were soldered and my IIC�s are original ROM (no
diagnostics), I had to unsolder all chips and put in sockets and start
swapping chips until I found the ones that were faulty. If you desolder
the chips, be very careful that you don�t overheat the board and strip the
foils.
