ApplePC also ran quite well on my 486-50dx2 laptop at
approximately 4-5 mhz. It even runs Apple Oasis at about 3 mhz.
However, the complexity of GS emulation makes this cpu useless
without some sort of external support. If the system were designed
to allow the cpu to emulate the 65816 and the other functions were
performed by support chips it becomes more feasible.
It's rather difficult to compare hardware emulation with software
emulation since the software simulation is mostly done through the
cpu.
