IIe I/O error troubleshoot

        I've got an I/O problem with a Disk ][ drive on a IIe.  When the 
Disk ][ controller is in slot 6, a disk with DOS 3.3 will boot enough to
load DOS, but then gives an I/O Error when it tries to load the hello
program.  If I try to load another program, it also results in an I/O Error.
Interestingly, if the same Disk ][ controller card and Disk ][ drive are
moved to slot 5, programs can be loaded and run without any problem.

        Is this a malfunction of slot 6?

        I've already looked at the csa2 FAQs, and the Apple 2 Repair Guide
at the link below, without finding a description of a similar problem, so I
hope someone else has encountered this before.
