I haven't been having much luck typing lately.  The part in
parenthesis should read:

(at this point hit ESC, then the up arrow, then the left arrow eight
times, then space, then the right arrow to get the cursor on the
letter J of JOE and then type BILL and press return)

My apologies to anyone who had problems with my original instructions.
