The Apple III was quite amazing.  It did have the same processor
but because the III had an MMU, it could directly address up to
512k of memory without bank switching.  At first, seeing that it
had a 6502, I was scratching my head but then it dawned on me
that the III was actually much more beautiful in design in this
respect that the IIe.

Of course this pales to the 65C816 which can address up to
16MB of memory without any help, but the III was really quite
cool for its time.
