Which version did you run? You should try to run the Vulcan Gold disk's
partitioning software too. If that doesn't work, my guess the drive is shot.

I recently aquired a Vulcan in which the drive was all seized up. Out of a
complete fluke, I found the exact replacement at a local used computer
store, they just happened to have a used 40MB Western Digital sitting around.

Oddly enough, I always was under the impression that the drive geometry
was stored on the firmware on the card, but when I put in the replacement
drive, my regular Vulcan software didn't recognize it, but as soon as I ran the
Vulcan Gold software I had no problem.

I don't know all the manufacturers of all the drive's AE used in their Vulcans,
but it looks like the older Vulcan's used the Western Digital, and the Vulcan
Gold used a Connor drive.
