Groening is an Apple fan. You see that in the Simpsons from time to time as 
well. Another one from Futurama is the episode when they were on the Titanic
and a robot named iZac was the bartender. Kind of a cross between an iMac
and Isaac, the bartender on the Love Boat.

I also like when the giant meteor of 20th century trash is headed for earth
Armageddon style and they plan to blow it up with a bomb in between the
coffee grounds and America Online floppy disks.
