Yes.  I used to have an SSC for my Imagewriter and a DataLink 2400, which
pretended to be an SSC as far as comm software was concerned.

If this is what you're looking to do, you might be better off with a
switchbox and a null-modem adapter.  This would give you an easy way to
switch between normal and null-modem connections.  (Of course, if one of
your cables is already a null-modem cable, you won't need the adapter.)
