The reason I ask is that I have a working ARM7500 board that takes all PC style
stuff. IDE for HD and CD. PC keyboard and mouse. SVGA monitors and two serial
ports plus ethernet. Why would this be good? First the PC peripherals can be
new and cheap and the HD can be HUGE and second, very efficient 65C02 emulators
have been written for the ARM.
There are so many tradeoffs to be made that I can never make up my mind. A IIgs
would be easiest to do since the keyboard is external. However the IIe has my
favorite keyboard for typing and a new motherboard for it would be quite
different.
On the other hand, an accelerator in a slot that just goes like mad whenever
the code does not have to work with gs or IIe hardware would be pretty easy and
could run a mix of native ARM and emulation code but we are stuck with TV rate
video.
I just can't make up my mind!
