Doesn't sound too different than what happened when I plugged in a 4MHz ZipChip
that someone gave me.  They told me that it never worked for them and I found
the same.  The screen made a large checkerboard pattern, but that was it.

BTW, What programs are you running with the ZipChip?  I've found that it
doesn't like my DHR programs, but a TransWarp can handle them with a little dip
switch finnagling.
