Re: Apple Printers: My Secret Cleaning Formula
As I recall, I was able to bring a little Apple Scribe printer back from the
beyond by cleaning the guide bar with a Q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol.
The bar and print head fit like a piston and cylinder, so the print head
needs to be slid back and forth to try to sweep out some of the debris and
sludge. (The best way would likely be to disassemble the whole thing, but
everytime I do that, I have parts left over.)
Then a bit of 3-in-1 oil was applied lightly to the whole bar. Again,
sliding the print head back and forth helped lube the unreachable areas.
Perhaps this is not the most effective method, but it's at least a temporary
solution!
Cheers,
