Someone posted recently ( I think It was John Holmes - correct me if I'm wrong,
John) that the closest thing he's ever seen to a computer at a thrift store was
a broken typewriter. This has unfortunately been my experience for the most
part as well, but I still go in and look when time allows. The main advantage
to ebay is that I can shop around there from home and I know I'll see Apple
stuff, guaranteed. Granted, it will almost always go for too much, but I've
gotten lucky there far more than a few times. The moral, I guess, is it doesn't
hurt to look. I have to agree with Pim in that it does burn me up when some
doofus buys a 1mb Apple ram card for $75. All I can think is, "oh great, prices
are going up". Supply and demand donchaknow.

I still prefer to do my trading the old fashioned way, by posting on the
newsgroups, and Delphi, etc. It always seems more real to just email someone a
few times and work out a deal. Proxy bidding takes a lot of the fun out of
trading. I, for one, have never listed anything for sale on ebay until I have
given up on finding any takers the "fun" way.
