I think you have to hold down both 'C' and 'D' keys, but I may be wrong
since I haven't needed to boot from a CD before.

The operating system the Macs use is called MacOS. You should have a
minimal operating system on a disk that came with the computer if you need
it.

Since this is an Apple II newsgroup (Apple II's being computers earlier
than the Mac) you might not find very much help here. Scroll a little bit
further down your list of newsgroups and post your questions in one of the
comp.sys.mac newsgroups.
