Well, yes there are: ProSel 8 and 16, and AppleWorks 5.1. To many people, those
are the two programs which they use most. Both sort a directory by date,
chronological and reverse chron. ProSel even writes the re-sorted directory to
disk, a top feature of this program. AppleWorks doesn't, but the feature is
useful for loading the newest files to the desktop. Neither program uses the
39/40 routine that Dave suggested in Tech note 28. I don't know if it was ever
considered.
The programs that reject 00 as invalid and display [No date] are easy to fix.
We have updated versions of Sneeze, Shrinkit 3.4, Change-A-File, and others. So
if anyone sees [No date], they should point it out so we can fix it.
I am not advocating the 00 to 127 ProDos, I just wish it was given more
consideration along the way.
