I bought some TWGS upgrade stuff along with a bunch of BlueDisk and MicroDrive
cards from them in a group purchase that I coordinated last fall. It worked out
really well for reducing the per-unit shipping charges and currency exchange
hassles from Germany to the States (Joachim even shipped the relatively small
TWGS cables and cache/ROM upgrades at no extra charge), and I've been
contemplating doing it again since I'd like to get another one of those
MicroDrive IDE controllers. Last time around, prices looked like this:
BlueDisk Card US $119.00
MicroDrive/Turbo Card US $129.00
MicroDrive Card US $ 69.00
Alternate ROM for MicroDrives US $ 18.00
2.5" Mounting Kit for MicroDrive US $ 25.00
Transwarp GS Cache Board (bare) US $ 20.00
Transwarp GS Cache Board (populated) US $ 32.00
TWGS Firmware ROM v1.8 US $ 12.00
TWGS Cable (short or looped) US $ 15.00
Shipping and other incidental expenses came to about US $5 per card, plus
whatever it cost me to forward the stuff to the buyers. If there's enough
interest out there (at least 10 cards), I'd be willing to do this again. For
more information, see the out-of-date SHH web page (http://www.wbwip.com/shh/),
or send email to Joachim Lange (mailto:lange@tasha.muc.de) or me.
