OK, now this has made me think I can't just connect a Mac monitor to a
IIgs. Not because they use different scan frequencies, but because the
connectors are different. According to the manual for my Apple Multiple
Scan 15 monitor, this is the pinout for the Mac side:
1 = Red video ground
2 = Red video
3 = Not used
4 = ID 1
5 = Green video
6 = Green video ground
7 = ID 2
8 = Not used
9 = Blue video
10 = ID 3
11 = Vertical sync return
12 = Vertical sync
13 = Blue video ground
14 = Horizontal sync return
15 = Horizontal sync
Which would mean that composite sync isn't being used, 5 volts is going to
ID 2, 12 volts isn't being used at all, Analog sound is crashing with
Vertical sync return, Composite video is being used as the Vertical sync
signal, and nothing is telling the monitor when to go on to the next scan
line.
