Re: AppleCommander and RDOS dsk files
There are two official RDOS formats (headers are given for SSI's
disks):
- RDOS 2.1 on 13-sec disks (same NIB format as DOS 3.2 disks, but
headers are D5AAB5/DEAA on even tracks, D5AAB4/DEAA on odd tracks)
There are 13 blocks of 256 bytes X 35 tracks = 455 blocks.
- RDOS 3.0 on 16-sec disks (same NIB format as DOS 3.3 disks, but
headers are D5AA96/DEAA on even tracks, D5AA97/DEAA on odd tracks)
There are 16 blocks of 256 bytes X 35 tracks = 560 blocks.
There is two unofficial RDOS formats:
- RDOS 3.0 on 16-sec disks but only the first 13 are used and the RWTS
routines were the official one from RDOS 3.0
- RDOS 2.1 on 16-sec disks but only the first 13 are used and the RWTS
routines were rewritten to handle 16-sec disks
We all programmed an automatic SSI unprotect program: I read a 13-sec
track and write it on a 16-sec disk. We, then, had to replace one file
on the disk (JPL, help, I can't recall its name) to remove the
complete protection and authorize disk copies.
Ah, good ol' times!
