Re: Speed of a II

If my memory on this is intact, I believe that some of
the RocketChip folk used to work for ZipChip, and
went off on their own, before the ZipChip was released.
The RocketChip folk brought out their product about the
same time as the ZipChip was released, and theirs differed
slightly in speed and a few other operations.
(4mhz for the Zip, 5mhz for the Rocket, 8mhz for the
Zip, 7mhz for the Rocket.) Zip Technologies sued
RocketChip for theft of intellectual property, and were
able to prove their case in court, and the Rocketchip had
to be removed from the market. Applied Engineering was
hurt by this since they were offering an accellerator
board that incorporated a RocketChip. When the court killed
that chip, AE had to come up with a different design for
their accellerator. I used a ZipChip 8 and had very few
problems with it--never had the chance to try the
RocketChip, tho. :)
