in fact, yes HD and DD (or SD) disk are recognizable with the presence
or the lack of the ring on the middle hole. I received two messages
about this subject.
in the first there was written : 
"if you look at the middle hole, DD and SD disks have a hard
plastic ring which is usually black but sometimes white around the hole.
The ring is roughly 1/8" across. Once you compare a HD to a DD/SD disk
you'll see what I'm talking about."

in the second message there was written :
All the HD densitys have no hub or no metal ring in the center. This
makes it harder for the Apple drive to clamp them.

and so I verified and saw that I had a few DD disks in a HD box (what
made me thaught that I didn't had DD disks...)
