When using large, detailed photos, it's best to have both a small
scaled version for "inlining" in text and sidebars, and then a large
version that is linked to when the small picture is clicked.

(Of course, in most cases, there is no real need for both a "normal"
scale photo and a large one.)

Steve, just an observation about why your website is so slow...

All the pictures are a half-megabyte or more, then they are
scaled down *by the browser* to what could be represented in
about 25KB!

Providing scaled-down photos for the sidebars, etc., would
speed things up tremendously.
