I do not have a Mac so can't help you with this, but I just
want to point out that this is a very practical approach.  In
fact, Apple distributed HyperMover this way.  HyperMover
comes on two disks, one ProDOS 800k disk for the IIGS
and one HFS 800k disk for the Mac.  BOTH were available
as .shk files.  BOTH could be extracted with ShrinkIt! on
the IIGS.  Once the HFS disk was extracted, you took
it to the Mac to run the Mac HyperMover stack with Mac
HyperCard.

So it does indeed work.
