Re: Super Quest-- bug fixed notice
Okay; the bug was in the startup program which decides whether or not to
treat the computer as a IIgs. I permitted an enhanced IIe to be treated like a
IIgs figuring the //e wouldn't care about POKEs to the softswitch addresses
involved-- bad idea. The fix does an additional check to keep the //e from
being messed up.
A few minor things were fixed in the main game program-- mainly stuff like
screening out lower case in character names (which get messed up in INVERSE).
Everything seems to work correctly as checked on a II+, IIc+, IIgs, and
AppleWin emulators.
The new files are ...
SuperQuestv551.sdk (ShrinkIt 5.25" whole-disk archive)
SuperQuestv551.dsk (.dsk disk image file)
SuperQuestv551info.txt (some information about the game)
They have been uploaded to Asimov, Ground, and GS WorldView (Jan 2000 issue):
Asimov
ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/incoming/
Ground (probably, it will be in the apple8 games folder)
ftp://ground.ecn.uiowa.edu/apple2/
GSWV (after downloading, rename SuperQuestv551sdk.bin to SuperQuestv551.sdk and
SuperQuestv551dsk.bin to SuperQuestv551.dsk)

One note: earlier versions of AppleWin do not seem to support the
Applesoft FLASH command-- you get just inverse text. The game appears to run
okay; but, it is a bit more lively looking on emus which support FLASH, like
the latest AppleWin.
