While working in Aztec C today I stumbled onto a bug in the
Phade library and the directory read routines. I thought I
had fixed the problem and forgotten about it. As it turns
out I was wrong.

The routines have a problem regarding files which have
a $00 file type. This usually happens when you copy files
from another file system. This file type is also used when
a file has been deleted by certain programs. Deleted files
aren't a problem for the routines, but non-deleted files
with the $00 type are.

Anyhow, the way to resolve the problem is to check the
directories for any files with the $00 file type. Change the
type to whatever matches the file's contents. I suggest
that you perform a directory sort with either Copy2Plus
or the Prosel utilities. This will eliminate any problems
which may occur from improperly deleted files.  You may
also want to run the Prosel Mr.Fixit program to verify
the directories. Do not run Mr.Fixit on the changed
directories or on files with the 01-01-00 date. It seems
to have a Y2K problem and reports the file's date as
bad.

Once you have finished, it's safe to run the modified date
changer. Don't forget, you can check the files by viewing
the work file created when the program runs.

I'll be working on an update to the Phade routines. I also
acquired the manual program created by Phade which
never made it to the file sites. I have the author's permission
to post it also. I am currently discussing with him about
releasing his programs as (c) freeware. He has given me
his tentative permission, so you should see these programs
soon.
