Big effort or not, we really need a freeware C system for the 8 bit
Apples. Hyper C is an option, but it has problems. It really isn't
freeware and no source for the most important parts, such as
the shell, compiler, assembler and linker.

This will need to be tackled in the same way as the Linux / GNU
systems. With several good programmers doing the coding, and
others to handle documentation and other overhead, it becomes
quite feasible.

Even though many people say you are better off using a cross
compiler, I personally prefer to code on the real thing or at the
very least, an emulator.

6502 option shouldn't be too hard, and it paves the way for 65816
extensions should the community wish to take it that far.

I for one commend him, writing a compiler is not an easy job. It takes a
lot of time and dedication.
